Works of fiction can definitely be over the top sometimes, but we tend to neglect the fact that they're usually based on real life. With video cameras in nearly every cell phone, and instant uploading to YouTube, we have more access than ever to the crazy stuff that inspires works of fiction. This week's Video Round-Up is dedicated to some of those insane things real people actually do or witness being done that just happened to get caught on camera. Enjoy them, possibly be inspired by them, but do not run out and try them.
You know those motorcycle chase scenes in movies? The difference between those and this real-life version -- apart from the chase part -- is that the drivers would have been aware that a lunatic was going to fly in between them in a few seconds. One surprise lane change and this guy would be cream on someone's back windshield. Well, at least he got to work really quickly.
Ever see a blast wave from an explosion coming toward you and have it knock you back? Now you have.
When you're in a jet going 600 mph and something goes wrong causing it to careen toward the ground, you'll really want that ejection seat to work properly. Imagine having your job be to shoot out of a sled going that fast. That carnival ride would probably feel pretty lame.
I wish I could do even just one flip.
