Shuffled #28: Not to be Confused with...

Every other Wednesday either Matt or Alex C-Y share their love of music in an assortment of ways. Shuffled is a podcast whose format is as varied as their tastes in music, so hopefully you won't ever be bored and everyone can find something to enjoy.

What's in a name? A miserable pile of secrets! No wait, I think I may have my lines crossed

How important is a name to a band? I know every time I try to figure out one for Rock Band I come up with something lame. This week we take a closer look into bands with similar or the same name. Creating something from scratch, like music, is a tough job. I don't believe in giving flack to the copycats out there when it comes to creating an identity to a specific sound. Just keep making awesome tunes to grove to. That's my philosophy. Be sure to check out some of the links after the jump. There you'll find extra tracks and other bands (some for free!). Who knows? You might find something new to like!

Track List (more than just adding a D and J):

Stations by Hadoken and Spend Your Life by Hadouken!

Hadoken is a post rock band from Massachusetts. You can find the track, Stations, for free in this compilation, which is also free to download. You can by the full album, Luminary, on Amazon, or stream it on Bandcamp.

Hadouken! are an English grime band from London. Check out their album, Music for and Accelerated Culture, on Amazon.

Hungarian Dance by Johannes Brahms and Brought it Out by BRAHMS

Amazon has more Johannes Brahms than you can possibly get through in a single day. 99 tracks for $7.

BRAHMS is sadly not around anymore. You can still find random tracks by them on the web though. Download Brought it Out and Add it Up (right click, save-as).

I also find the comments section on BRAHMS last.fm page to be quite hilarious.

Mount Celestia by Rolo Tomassi and Thundercock by Rollo Tomasi

Rolo Tomassi is from the UK. The track used for the show is off of Eternal Youth, which is a steal on Amazon for what you get. I also highly recommend Hysterics.

Rollo Tomasi has their album on Bandcamp if you want to listen before you buy. It can also be found on Amazon.

Tongue Twister by Envy and Shield of Selflessness by Envy

Personally, I prefer the loud and scathing sounds of the Japanese version of Envy over the British MC. She does lay down sick beats and rhymes that I do enjoy. Get Insomniac Doze and Set Yourself on Fire on Amazon.

Want to learn more on bands that have the same name? A couple of the episode's tracks came from this random forum post.

As always, check out Ser Flash's dope music at smpmusicproductions.bandcamp.com
