Video Round-Up: Jerkin' Back and Forth Edition

Video Round-Up is a weekly post collecting an assortment of videos from around the web. Whether they be music videos, creative viral marketing, just plain cool, or just plain ridiculous, they will all be found on Video Round-Up.

In this week's Video Round-Up, I play with your emotions. But don't worry, I'd never rile you up without bringing you back down. There are some hot-button issues at hand here, and also some completely ridiculous "issues" at hand. So hit the jump for cleavage, hope, space, modifications, and sleazy paparazzi. It's definitely an interesting mix.

You've no doubt heard of this "controversy", but have you sat down to watch it yourself? Please, tell me the controversy here. WE CANNOT LET OUR CHILDREN KNOW OF CLEAVAGE! I've written about how little parents think of their children these days before, but it always astonishes me. I don't shelter my kid like so many out there today. I certainly don't expose her to everything, but a low-cut dress isn't something I'm worried will rot her brain. Celebrities guest star on Sesame Street constantly, and a majority of the time the kid-less masses have no idea. The faux-outrage over this particular guest spot has more likely helped the show's ratings and Katy Perry's CD sales than it has exposed any terrible scandal we should protect our children from.

Well, from that ridiculousness, we'll go to a really great project from Dan Savage (the sex advice columnist and gay rights advocate) called "It Gets Better." In light of the recent cases of suicide from discriminated against gay teens, as well as the talk around repealing Don't Ask Don't Tell, Savage has started a YouTube campaign to help struggling LGBT teens. Hopefully his message gets through to as many hurting kids as possible and homophobic bullies don't drive them to ending their lives.

Alright, back to bullshit. I really hate TMZ. It is the bottom-of-the-barrel when it comes to television. Sadly, we have very few (Like, 10) channels, and my wife insists that she can't fall asleep without the TV no matter what I say. So, despite my constant changing of the channel, we've probably given them ratings. Now that I have this video to show my wife as proof of their bullshit practices, things will hopefully change.

Homemade Spacecraft from Luke Geissbuhler on Vimeo.

Don't worry, I won't round out the Round-Up with stupidity. This video is amazing. As a father, I want to strive to do awesome things like this with my kids. I want to inspire them and make them love learning. I'm going to have to get studying if I want to actually pull something like this off.

And a quick final video. I love creative video game mods, mostly because I dream of creating my own someday. My very limited electrical experience from high school isn't quite holding out, so I'm going to need some good directions. Luckily the mod community is usually very open with that information. You can learn how to build your own NES DVD player right here.

I'd be more worried about my kid hearing Katy Perry than seeing her. My little sister keeps singing/playing California Girls. Such an annoying song.

That homemade spacecraft video was incredible. I never thought about homebrew trips to space. I'd only worry about it hitting an airplane on its way up. But this one, of course, was successful.
