Video Round-Up is a weekly post collecting an assortment of videos from around the web. Whether they be music videos, creative viral marketing, just plain cool, or just plain ridiculous, they will all be found on Video Round-Up.
During the past two weeks, a number of my favorite musicians have released videos. I have to first thank Pitchfork Media for getting that news to me. And with that ado, here are my top three.
James Blake cameos in this story of hometown friends parting as they grow older and their lives lead in different directions. The video may or may not relate to the song; I can't tell because I don't know what the song is about. The chorus is "beacon don't fly too high." Does that help? If so, let me know the meaning. Also, you should know that this version is an edited rendition of the original, which is two songs and a bit longer.
I didn't expect "Alsatian Darn" to be the standout track on Panda Bear's new album, but it is. The repetition for the last third of this track is magical. I'm consumed by it with every listen. The video is more bonkers than I expected, even coming from one of the Animal Collective. But I definitely like it.
Merrill Garbus' musical persona has got me looking for every new piece of media in which she appears. (Haven't bought her album, w h o k i l l, yet, though. Strange, huh?) So, when she performs a new track live, I'm in. Check out "You Yes You," complete with made-on-the-spot looping drum madness.
